CARUSO, ENRICO
334. ENRICO CARUSO (1873 - 1921) Italian tenor and very possibly the greatest of all time. His repertoire was comprised of over 40 operas, especially I Pagliacci and La Boheme. Superb signed drawing, a wonderful self-portrait showing the tenor's mischievously smiling face in a close-up, boldly executed in brown ink on a 8" x 10" sheet of stationery from the Hotel Knickerbocker in New York while there for an Italian festal at the Unitarian Church held on Dec. 5, 1918. Boldly signed beneath: "Enrico Caruso 11.4.198". In near fine condition, with just the slightest toning consistent with age. Along with a T.L.S. from Caruso's secretary sending the drawing (in very poor and fragile shape). $1,500-2,000
