835. JAMES E. CARTER (b. 1924) Thirty-ninth President of the United States who engineered a break-through in Arab-Israeli relations. Exceptionally rare A.L.S. "J C" as President on White House letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Washington, May 25, 1978 to his wife and First lady ROSALYNN CARTER. In full: "Rosalynn, We need to invite Mrs. Magnuson to the W[hite]. H[ouse]. (Jermaine) JC" At the bottom Mrs. Carter writes an unsigned memo to her secretary: "M - Invite Sen. & Mrs. Magnuson to Jazz Festival - ". Carter is exceedingly rare in A.L.S.'s as President, especially so when the item includes holograph material by Rosalynn. Two staple holes at top, otherwise fine. $2,000-3,000
