This antique plaque, signed Carlus, depicts a renaissance period courting scene with musicians entertaining a distinguished couple. Measures 11" by 7.75" and weighs 1 lbs. 8 oz. Excellent condition. There is some grime and light discoloration along the edges where covered by a prior frame. We believe this plaque dates from the very late 19th to early 20th century. There are no visible hallmarks on the rear. This item comes from a family who have been collecting European porcelain for four generations. It resides on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York and may be seen by appointment.
