Stereoview Photo of “Bridal Veil Falls” at Yosemite Valley
c. 1870, Stereoview Photograph, “Pohono, or the Bridal Veil, 900 feet, from the Coulterville Trail, Yosemite Valley, Mariposa County, Cal.” by CARLETON WATKINS, Extremely Fine.

An original stereoview photograph with a view of the 900 foot "Bridal Veil" at Yosemite Park, published circa 1870 by famed California pioneer photographer CARLETON WATKINS (1829-1916), taken as part of his "Pacific Coast" series of images of the West Coast. He had arrived in California in 1852 during the Gold Rush, and after several ventures, opened a photographic studio in 1858 where he became known for his images of Yosemite Park. He lost all his negatives and his inventory in the San Francisco earthquake. Size 3.5" x 7" on a flat yellow card mount with a blank reverse, some minor wear to edges, overall in very nice condition. An original "first generation" photograph by a famed California pioneer photographer.
