The Birth Certificate of Robert Perry Lang, Signed and dated 1822
The draped figures holding bannerette with the name "Robert Perry Lang" and connecing two vignettes, the first a farming scene with farm implements, the second a marine scene with ships at sea, above cornucopias. The translated inscription, "Born the 25th day of December in year 1821, at Selingrove, Penn Township, Union County, State of Pennsylvania. The parents are Joseph Lang and Jane, by Birth: Fitz. He was baptized March 4, 1822, by the Reverend J. Peter Schindel. The parents themselves acted as witness at the Christening."

PROVENANCE:
A note accompanying Fractur reads, "This is the property of my son Robert Hall Craig, Mary V. Fairley." Descended in Lang family to present owner . Carl Edward Munch was born January 7, 1769 in Mettenheim, Germany. He arrived in the United States in 1798 and taught school, eventually becoming a schoolmaster at Saint Peter's Reformed Church. He died in January of 1833.
