War-date A.L.S. "R. F. Taylor" adding rank as Colonel of the 33rd N. Y. V. , 1p. 8vo., oblong, White Oak Church, Va., May 13, 1863, in full: "Lieut. Rossiter died in the hands of the enemy night before last. His body has been procured and will be taken home by the regiment which leaves here Friday. You can meet us in Washington". Charles D. Rossiter was wounded and captured during the battle of Chancellorsville May 4 and died on the 11th. Small hole affects two letters of text, else very good.
