<B>CAMPO DEL CIELO - AN ARCHETYPICAL SPECIMEN</B></I><BR> <I>Iron, coarse octahedrite<BR>Gran Chaco, Argentina</B></I><BR>A fine example of a classic meteorite, this specimen is characterized by ridges of metallic highlights and a profusion of regmaglypts. Holding it in one's hand it is easy to indulge in the whimsy that it was once a soft and malleable lump of metal which, squeezed by the hand of some ancient god, was left with the permanent impressions and thumbprints that cover the entire surface.
