What may possibly be the only existing camp Luft Stalag III photographs, along with the camera that took them. May possibly have been used in compiling documents for escapees. Ed Tovrea's family attest to Ed stating he had this camera in his possession while at Luft III until liberated. It is a Kodak 35 Range Finder SN/32763. Most of the amazing pictures are dated from October 1944 to June 8th, 1945, with the last showing the Statue of Liberty and arrival home. They include on most hand written details on reverse: camp conditions , food allotments, the march to Moosburg where the Americans were transferred. One of the most interesting perhaps is a photo of the practice of signaling the approach of "Ferrets" or guards. The family members state the photos were on loan to the production company for the film "The Great Escape", to reconstruct the camp and camp life.
