The Hupa, also spelled Hoppa People have always been excellent basket makers. Baskets served for practical use as well decorative uses. The group is from the Spradling Estate and features 2 baskets and one with a top. The larger of the baskets has the letters "L.P.C" weaved into the design. The basket was made sometime between 1910 and 1913 and made by Lester Paul Clarke. The basket measures 5.25" across and 4" tall. The smaller basket with a lid features various patterns and shapes. It measures 3.5" across and 3" tall [http://www.hoopa-nsn.gov/culture/history.htm]Spradling-Wingfield Estate HKA#62853
