CADET ISRAEL BUSH RICHARDSON'S WEST POINT REPORT CARD
ISRAEL BUSH RICHARDSON (1815 - 1862) Union major general who fought with distinction in the Mexican War, covered the Union retreat at First Bull Run, fought at the Peninsula, Seven Pines, and at Antietam where he was mortally wounded. Fine D.S. signed by fellow Union general JOSEPH G. TOTTEN, 1p. 4to., "Engineer Department", Washington, Jan. 27, 1840, Richardson's West Point report card showing that in a class of 58, Richardson placed 20th in philosophy, 57th in chemistry, and 39th in drawing. He received two demerits for a total of 13. Sold with General Order No. 179, Apr. 23, 1864 announcing Totten's demise. Two pieces.
