A busy day at Sentinel Hotel. Groups of people standing under the roof. Horse drawn wagons going and coming from the hotel. A small building can be seen in the distance. Silver ink splatters are visible on the photo. According to Carl P. Russell in his article called One Hundred Years in Yosemite (1947), Coulter and Murphy, who were the proprietors of the old Hutchingson's Group, had built the Sentinel Hotel in 1874. Although it was not in their hands for a very long period of time, in 1877 the property was passed to J.K. Barnard and became known as the Yosemite Falls Hotel for about 17 years. Today it is known as the Cedar Cottage because of the large Cedar tree growing through a room. Undivided back, and also unused, no border. Small nick at the bottom edge. Overall good condition.
