Lot of one carton. Over 50 years is covered in this comprehensive archive belonging to the family of Dr. Edmund and Mrs. Juanita Bergstedt Goldman. Included are personal checks dating from the 1890s, receipts, invoices, billheads, correspondence, photographs, address/telephone books, bank books, ledgers, and a personal 1918 diary belonging to Elsa Goldman, one of the Goldman daughters. Wrights, California was also known as Wrights Station. Located on the north bank of Los Gatos Creek. WikiMiniAtlas

Much of the material deals with the operation of the beautiful health resort Edmund and Juanita built in the Santa Cruz Mountains called Villa Bergstedt. Both the Goldmans were born in Germany; Edmund served as a surgeon for the Union in the Civil War and became friends with Generals Sheridan and Sherman and Admiral Farragut. After the war Goldman practiced medicine in San Jose, eventually relinquishing that profession to devote his time to the creation and development of the health spa on the 26-acre ranch they purchased in 1889 in the Santa Cruz Mountains. After the death of Edmund in 1910 his widow and daughter Inez continued to operate the resort.
