CA. Watsonville. Pajaro Valley National Bank. $2.50. April 6, 1932. (CA770-2.5). A mammoth "Anti-Hoarding" check, measures 15" x 7". Only four of these mammoth checks were issued in Watsonville, California, to demonstrate the buying power represented by a check if kept in active circulation. It was intended that the check circulate for only one month, but after only three weeks the original $10 represented by the four checks had accounted for over $700 in payment for purchases. Each check was given a special name rather than a serial number. This particular check is named "Courage" and is the plate note in Mitchell-Shafer. About Fine, a few minor body holes.
