1853-Published by G.S. Wells of Sonora in May 1853, a Birdseye view of Springfield, Tuolumne County. Lithographed by Britton & Rey of San Francisco. Baird #257, 9 x 11". No trimming, some yellowing around well defined edges. A mile southwest of the boomtown of Colombia, Springfield supplied bubbling springs for miners to wash their diggings. The town once boasted 2,000 residents. This illustration shows the central square around the flag pole and dozens of buildings, with goats grazing in the foreground. HKA#64248
