From the historic Gold Rush town. The First National Bank of Sonora was chartered 6 April 1904 and liquidated on 19 December 1932. On the bill is "March 5, 1904." To the left is a portrait of Hugh McColloch. A blue seal to the right, which was more common on these bills than a red seal. Signed by the cashier and the president in blue ink, legible but not strong. On the reverse to the far left is an image of a bald eagle, shield, an allegorical woman holding a flaming torch, and in the distance the U. S. Capital building. Margin is a little tight at the top. Uncertified. Fine. Series 1002, plain back. New to census? McCulloch was the Secretary of the Treasury under Lincoln [http://www.mrlincolnswhitehouse.org/inside.asp?ID=92&subjectID=2].
