Originally founded in 1910 in Chicago as American Film Manufacturing Company, the name changed in 1915 and the company bounced around in New Mexico, Arizona and California before finally settling in Santa Barbara, partly for the urban backdrops the city provided to Directors and film crews. Between 1912 and 1917 the company was one of the largest motion picture studios in the U.S. and featured some great stars like Mabel Normand, Audrey Munson, Mary Miles Winter, Fatty Arbuckle and Lou Tellegen. The town of Santa Barbara once rivaled Hollywood as far as star spotting and movie filming. In fact, the controversial movie Purity featured actress Audrey Muson in the world's first nude scene, which was shot near a creek just outside the city. These 3 tokens are a great symbol of California's great movie history. - Weber Collection
