Cover shows an image of women bathing around a river. Letters in gold read “Palace of Art, 16 Post St. S.F.” Extremely fine. The Palace of Art was a saloon and restaurant run by the Hackett brothers. As described in the 1914 by writer Clarence Edgar Edwords, visitors could find “…some of the finest paintings and marble carvings to be found in the city, together with beautiful hammered silver plaques and cups. Curios of all sorts were displayed on the walls… a large and ornate bar extended along one side of the immense room and tables were placed about the room and in a balcony that ran along one side.” The business later burned down in a fire, which destroyed all works of art.
