This lot includes a sign and a paired lock and key from Wells Fargo Co Express. These items were handed down over 2 generations, to our current consigner, who is 92 years old. They have been in the same family since 1920. 1) A vintage WF Co Express advertising sign for a building, window, or similar. This metal-edged double-sided sign measures 14 x 14. Made of pressboard, full color on each side. There is a metal reinforced tab at the top, to facilitate hanging its diamond shape. 2) A fully functional, heart shaped shackle padlock marked W F. Co. on the dust cover. This lock is very dirty and seems to have seen use in silty mud. The hasp is marked but very difficult to read as the tiny block letters are heavily worn. The key, which operates the lock, is marked USA on one side, and WQ F Co. on the other. Wells Fargo began in 1852, and pushed its customers` business from New York and New Jersey through Chicago, into the Midwest, to Texas and Arizona, and into the logging and mining areas of the far west. They offered basic financial services like money orders, travelers` checks and funds by telegraph, expedited in the fastest ways possible. Always, wherever there was mining, from Alaska to Arizona, Wells Fargo guarded the gold. By 1910, the Company`s network linked 6,000 locations. HKA#63842
