Broadside advertisement which promotes the Central Short Line from the Pacific Coast to Great Plains states of Kansas and Nebraska stopping along the way in Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. According to the ad, Union Pacific is the only railway which offers its passengers with a “choice of three superb routes… the shortest line to Denver” and a line that was “500 miles the shortest route to San Francisco!” This advertisement was printed by the Omaha Republican Printing Company which still operates today as the Omaha Printing Company. The company changed the name in 1891, indicating this printing was published prior. The print has red and blue lettering, some of which has slightly faded due to age. In the center is a detailed map of the Union Pacific Railways routes and regional destinations. There are slightly frayed edges, tears, and age has created a rustic appearance. Trimmed tightly at the right side and at top affecting content. This poster touted the Central Pacific's shorter route by 500 miles to San Francisco from St. Jo Missouri. The Union Pacific route to the north was longer because the UPRR paid the construction crews a bonus by the mile, so many miles were needlessly added.
