A lot of three significant winnowing baskets. 1) A Mono Lake Paiute utility basket, with buckskin carrying strap and feather decorations. Measures 21 x 11. 2) A Paiute winnowing basket, purchased by Briscoe’s mother from the weaver Nelli Reynolds in 1967. Reynolds hailed from the Mono Lake Paiute Tribe and lived in a shack with no water or electricity on the north side of Mono Lake. She shared a special relationship with Lorraine Honea, Briscoe’s mother. Nelli was the oldest Indian woman in the area and told stories about when she was young and dated Wovoka (the famous Indian renowned for creating the ghost dance). This is one of many baskets brought to Briscoe and his mother by Nelli Reynolds. The ends are unraveled from age. Measures approximately 22 x 11. 3) A Mono Lake Paiute winnowing basket, measuring 27 x 15 and tapering down to 4 wide at the curved base. Excellent condition.Sanderson Yosemite Collection HKA#63189
