One of the stars in the shipwreck section, this 10-7/8" Urn & Cover is perfect and has cleaning of most sea debris off of a side to reveal its lovely Blue & White design. Still retaining much of its encrustation (Which we will properly clean off for $15.00 if the purchaser desires) the color and glaze are superb. This wreck has a 2002-published Museum Catalog from Vietnam which we will refer to from time to time here. The ship was likely made in Thailand of native teak, manned by Malaysian sailors, carrying a Chinese cargo from the reign of Yung Cheng (1723-1735) and sank in Vietnamese waters....truly an international occurence. Great design with lappets at top and bottom flanking the floral central motif, super Cobalt color that is among the best of the porcelains from the wreck, and a neat knobbed cover make this a rare and outstanding opportunity. Sotheby's auctioned some of the recovery for the Vietnamese government in 2007. Historical reference material accompanies.
