Lot of two editions of this newspaper, one dated Tuesday, March 9, and the other Saturday, April 24. The March paper has 8 pages and the April edition 4 pages. They are 10 x 14" in size.

T.S. Harris first published the paper November 26, 1874 and the final edition was published less than a year later on October 21, 1875 when Harris left for Darwin because, he said, "the ores there are of a different character-being argentiferous while those here are milling-and consequently the same amount of capital is not required." By November 1875 nearly everybody else had left Panamint for some other place. Rumors circulated that the ore bodies were about played out. The truth was that California hit hard times after William Ralston’s Bank of California came tumbling down in August of 1875, only a few days after Panamint’s 20-stamp mill began operation. The bank’s fall took much of the Comstock wealth with it and disheartened investors who were unwilling to speculate further [Ref: mojavedesert.net/desert-fever/panamint.html].
