This stock from the Keyes Mining District was incorporated in 1863. Certificate No. 825, issued on May 28, 1864. All signatures are illegible. There is a single vignette in the center top of the certificate. It shows a water mill and horse drawn carts in the mines, as well as miners pulling carts of ore out of the mountain. The border is black, and a stamp dated "May 28, 1864" on the bottom left corner. The stamp is covering the printer's name. The certificate is U/C and measures 9 1/2" x 5". The Keyes district was centered mostly around Keyesville, the first settlement in what would eventually become Kern county. The gold helped the area flourish, but when the gold boom ended, the town died off.
