c1852-1899-Binder of compiled covers, post cards, W-F Express covers, 38 by count. USPS covers from the famous gold mining area of Calaveras. The various obscure towns include Altaville, Angels Camp, Copperopolis, Fourth Crossing, Milton, Mokelomne Hill, Murphy`s, Railroad Flat, Valley Springs, and finally Wallace. The USPS cancellation/ postmarks are diverse, and stamped in inks of mostly black, with a green and a purple to boot. These postmarks are listed in the "California Town Postmarks" book by J.H. Williams as follows: (2) Altaville, CAL-20, rarity 2, Angels Camp, CAL-80, rarity 3, Angels Camp, CAL-110, rarity 3 (there are 2). The next 2 covers are stamped from Copperopolis, CAL-780, rarity 2 (there are 2). The next cover, with an attached letter, is from Fourth Crossing, CAL-1070, rarity 3, and next is Milton, CAL-1480, rarity 3. The next 11 covers, including the lone W-F Express cover, are from Mokelomne Hill. The postmarks are varied, however. Please note the following (in order): CAL-1600, rarity 4, CAL-1610, rarity 4, CAL-1640, rarity 4 (there are 2), the W-F cover with postmark CAL-1640, CAL-1700, rarity 3 (there are 4), and CAL-1770, rarity 1.There 4 from Murphy`s, CAL-1900, rarity 4, CAL-1930, rarity 3, CAL-1950, rarity 3, and CAL-1950, rarity 3. Next is Railroad Flat, CAL-2290, rarity 1. Next is Valley Springs, of which there are 4 of the same mark: CAL-2790, rarity 3. The final cover in the collection is from Wallace, CAL-3020, rarity 2. Note this has the right side torn alongside the stamp. The Calaveras area was a famous gold area in 1848 and later. Overall collection in very good condition, some very rare. HKA#64093
