Lot of two letters sent from Bodie, addressed to J.W. Towle, Bridgeport. 1) Dated 3 Dec., 1877, from Tho. Steel. Much of the note discusses the sending of provisions to a Mr. Stewart prior to the beginning of the storm season. Hand-written on both sides, it measures 8 1/2" x 7". 2) Sent by R.L. Peterson from the Headquarters Republican County Central Committee, Bodie Cal 4- 27th, 1880. Addressed to J.W. Trole, Esq., it states that Mr. Towle was "elected to attend joint convention to nominate an Assemblyman." At a later meeting Mr. Riordan had his resignation accepted, and "it was resolved that the nomination of the Inyo County Convention be endorsed, his Hon Joe Wasson. This action saved "the trouble and expense of Joint Convention. Hoping that this action will receive your endorsement." Signed by R.L. Peterson, Sec. Co. Cen. Com. Written on one side of paper, measures 8" x 10". Both pieces have foldlines, otherwise very fine.
