Medium contrast and focus is good except for slight movement on the middle. The photograph is mounted on blue measures 10”x 8” and 11”x 9” framed. The frame is a light brown. Freckle marks on the photograph mostly on the right side. The image is of Standard Mill in Bodie after a fire destroyed it on October 4, 1898. Four men stand in front and amongst the ruins of the Standard Mill. The photo shows the charred ruins and ashes. The Mill had been in operation since 1877 and was one of Bodie’s most reliable mills. In the early fall of 1898 the Standard Mill Company began construction on a third cyanide plant. But on 4th of October a fire broke out. The fire was the third fire in 4 years for the Standard Company. [Referenced, Piatt, H. Michael Bodie: "the mines are looking well--" North Bay Publishing 2003. Page 200.]
