Lot of 6 items, including: 4 tickets to Bodie Fire Department Anniversary Ball. The dates listed are 1900 (22nd Anniversary), 1901 (23rd Anniversary), 1903 (25th Anniversary), and 1904 (26th Anniversary) with each ball held at the Miner's Union Hall. The tickets measure 4" x 2", with an embossed seal visible on the right side. The 1900 ticket is off-white, 1901 is light brown, and 1903 is beige. The full color fireman illustration (possibly a woodblock print) on the left appears unchanged year to year. The wording from year to year is similar, but not identical. Fonts and print sizes do vary from year to year. Each has a number written on its face (49, 25, 60), likely related to the number of tickets sold. The good news, the price did not change from $2.00 from 1900 to 1903!. 1 reprint of a photograph featuring three musicians. Measures 5" x 7", with white border measuring 7 1/2" x 9 1/2". No matte. High contrast and fair focus, with no photographer listed. Although it cannot be verified, this image may have been taken at one of the BFD's Anniversary Balls represented by these three tickets. Last item is a keepsake produced by the Book Club of California, San Francisco. The information covers the "Bodie Volunteer Fire Department," and was distributed during 1961 to its members. The back cover notes that the California Legislature set aside a fund of more than $200,00 to "purchase the town site and buildings of Bodie; and it appears that when titles are cleared and valuations are agreed upon, another fascinating town will be preserved as a California state monument to the past." An interesting group of items for those interested in volunteer fire department history.
