Lot of 6. 1) The Bodie Bank check No. 66, datelined Bodie, Cal. Dec 6, 1879. Pay to Samuel McCloskey for $400. "Paid Dec 8, Wells Fargo & Co.'s Bank, Carson Nev." stamped near center. Blue 2-cent revenue stamp ( R152 R14) covers vignette at far left. Signed by W. Pope as Cashier. 2) The Brodie Bank, datelined Bodie, Cal. Check No. 18960 for $50 is dated 1881, and is printed on is printed on paper with vertical light brown stripes. Pay to the order of N.M. Parsons, signed by Geo. H. Winterburn as Cashier. Vignette of allegorical woman along the left border holding shield with anchor and "HOPE" emblazoned on it with left arm outstretched towards the sea. An orange RN-G1 revenue stamp imprint is centered. 3) Letterhead of Homer S. King & Co., datelined July 24, 1890. Sent to Bullion & Exchange Bank. Two listings, 50 Bodie Con. Inf 1.35; 200 do 1.30. Watermark on paper "Ashland" and image of four leaf clover. 4) Letterhead from "E.L. Benedict, Banker." Dateline Bodie, Mono Co., Cal. Sept 8th, 1890. The note, signed by Benedict, is addressed to the Bullion & Exchange Bank. In it he requests $500 in Standard Dollars from the US Mint. Stamped "Paid The Bullion & Exchange Bank." 5) Two checks from "The Anglo & London, Paris National Bank," San Francisco, Cal. Both datelined Bodie, Cal., have Aug 3 - 1911 stamped top right. No. 18147 is for $3.75, payable to Rowell Fruit Co., which is also stamped on the reverse. No. 18157 is for $89.80, payable to John Whicher, also stamped on the reverse. Noted as paid by stamp and hole punch. J.S. Cain, president stamped above signature line, with D.V. Cain hand-written on the line below. J.S. Cain Co. Printed along left edge.
