Incorporated September 3, 1878; Certificate No. 212 issued October 2, 1878 to Captain Paris Tustin (?) for 50 shares; signed by illegible President and A. F. Main (?), Secretary; no printer; U/C. The Rustler Gold Mining Company, which lies squarely on the main ore belt that traverses the Bodie District, was developed by means of a vertical shaft. Investors expected the mine to produce rich ore. The investors in this mine also invested in the Ajax Gold & Silver Mining Company including A. F. Main and was incorporated in September 1878. This certificate is moderately decorated along the border and includes an illustration of a mill with a horse-drawn cart hauling ore to the mill. Two assessment stamps are on the reverse of the certificate, one from Aug 1 1879 and the other from Nov 22, 1879 in the Carson City Bank. [Information about this company from United States Annual Mining Review and Stock Ledger: Containing Detailed Official Reports of the Principal Gold and Silver Mines; A History and Description of Mining and Stock Dealing, with Biographical Sketches of the Principal Men Engaged Therein, 1879] Two pieces known to us. This is the first time at auction.
