Lot of 9 Bodie Bank related documents mounted and placed in a wood frame. Wood frame measures 21” x 17”. Within the lot are seven checks. The visible revenue stamps are RNG on 3 of the stamps. Four other checks do not have revenue stamps at all. The earliest of the group in date from September 23, 1878 check number 62. From William Callou for $100 worth in gold coin. Signed by Cashier W. V. Pope. A group of four checks lay faned out in the upper left corner. The dates read May 12, 1879, October 1, 1878, October 25, 1879 and May 24, 1879. One the stock from May 24, 1879 provides the only visible name of H. P. Willard. A check from December 28, 1879 is located in the upper right corner. Check number 959 from J.B. Kendall for $832 to himself in gold coin. Cashier is W. V. Pope. The last check is located at the bottom. Number 8089 from April 15, 1880. From the Nevada- Cali Tel Line. For $ 4.40, also signed by cashier W. V. Pope . Also included is an unissued stock from the Bodie Bank. Incorporated under the laws of the state of California. Red border and vignette of a woman standing by an ocean with a shield that reads the word “hope” in the lower left corner. The last item is a small 5 ¼ x 3 ¼” light brown paper back booklet. Reads “the Bodie Bank, Bodie Cal. In Account with Colin, last name starts with J, but is illegible. Little wear on the items., holes and tears appear on some.
