C.S. Shattuck Single Shot Shotgun, #127, 8 ga., 33-1/2'' barrel, brown and case hardened finish, checkered walnut stock and forend, case hardened steel buttplate. Mfg'd from 1880 to 1904, with less than 1000 built, this example dating from 1883. Usually weighing over 13 lbs. and one of the first guns to be labeled a ''Punt Gun''. It is interesting to note that Oscar F. Mossberg was one of Shattuck's employees, founding Mossberg & Sons in 1919. Condition is very good to near fine. Sleeved Damascus barrel with mild even toning, somewhat darker near breech. Case hardened frame and breech area have toned a silvery gray with approx. 65% vivid hues in protected areas. Stock shows excellent figured unmolested open grain with just light flattening to checks. Action is good, bore is very good and should clean easily. Est.: $750-$1,000. (Antique)
