C.S. Richmond. VA.-marked percussion musket, .60 cal., 40” barrel, full length wood stock, brass butt plate and fore end cap, iron trigger guard and iron ramrod. This gun is in overall good condition showing a heavydark patina on the barrel that also shows a VP proof over an unusual bird’s head (not an eagle’s head) on the left side at the breech with the C.S. Richmond, V.A. marking on the lock plate and the date 1862; the action isgood, the bore is dark and the wood stock is overall good with scattered old mars and scratches; no visible proofs or cartouches; three iron barrel bands.
