English scholar, critic and novelist who was an articulate proponent of Christianity, famous as “the apostle to skeptics.” Best known are his theological works The Problem of Pain and The Screwtape Letters. His book, Christian Behavior, 64pp, 5"x7¼", Geoffrey Bles: The Centenary Press, London, 1943. Boldly signed “Jack Lewis,” as he was known to his friends, on first flyleaf, adding “Dec. 1944.” Very minor toning, light sunning of spine; o/w VG. Lewis’ wartime radio essays defending and explaining the Christian faith comforted the fearful and wounded, and were eventually collected and published in America as Mere Christianity in 1952. In the two decades before his death, Lewis published more than eight books, and he is arguably the most important Christian writer of the 20th Century.</span></p>

1. Auction Catalogue No. 19 is a Mail, Fax, Phone, Email and
Internet Live Bid Auction and is conducted under the laws of the State
of West Virginia by Gil Griggs, Licensee of Charleston, W. V. License
No. 002.
2. Absentee bid closing date is April 5th, 2002, 10:00 PM EST.
3. There is a 15% Buyer’s Premium charged on the final hammer price
of each lot. An additional 2½% Premium will be added to any lots
purchased through ebayliveauctions.com.
4. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid for any
reason.

6. In the event of duplicate high bids, the earliest bid received
will be the winner.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within seven day
providing that it comes back in the same condition. There is a
