38" long, belt tip to buckle tip is 42 1/2". The Shipley Saddlery and Mercantile Company opened in 1885 in Kansas City, Missouri. Within five years the company expanded and by 1910 the company had incorporated. The Shipley operation bought bit and spurs from makers such as the August Buermann Manufacturing Company and the McChesney Spur and Bit Company and sold them stamped with the Shipley name. The Charles P. Shipley Saddlery and Mercantile Company was the only company in Texas to purchase and sell the products of other manufacturers. Around 1915 Shipley bought the G.A. Bischoff & Company and used the Bischoff plant to manufacture their own spurs. In 1915, Shipley also bought the Crockett C&G line of bits and spurs. In 1943 Charles P. Shipley died. His son, and later his grandson, ran the business until it close din 1972.
