<B>Charles E. Hughes: Two Great Gubernatorial Taft Coat-tail Ribbon Badges from 1908</B></I>. A highly collectible category, these “coat-tail” items try to link state and local candidates to popular national candidates. Hughes was the Republican candidate in New York in 1908, and was understandably anxious to be identified with Taft, almost sure to be a winner over William Jennings Bryan. These are very scarce ribbons, and great for a presidential or New York governors collectors. Condition is basically excellent, with little inconsequential light aging. The larger ribbon is clearly separated horizontally just below the celluloid hanger bar, easily repaired. Lengths 8.75” x 6.5” respectively.
