C. Beck - Original Art for Captain Marvel Adventures #5, story page 1 (Fawcett, 1941).</B></I> Holy Moley! This amazing title splash from the earliest days of the Big Red Cheese shows the good Captain punching out a bad guy, as well as the "merciless" eruption of a volcano in the Rocky Mountains. Fawcett legend C. C. Beck was the "foreman" of all Captain Marvel comics in those early days, and this is a beautiful early example of his style-setting artwork for the series. Excellent condition overall, with very light tanning at the edges, and a word balloon paste-over is missing from the last panel. Like virtually all Fawcett art, there are blue-line color notations in every panel (instructions to the engraver, who handled all the color work in those days), but this does not detract from the amazing beauty of the art. 15" x 22", with an image area of 13" x 18". <B>Estimate: $3,000-up</B> </FONT></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><BR><!--<a name="PricesRealized"></a> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#000000"> <tr> <td width="100%"> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="3"> <tr> <td width="100%" bgcolor="#79735C"> <a name="PR"> <font face="arial" size="3" color="#FFFFFF"> <b>Previous Prices from Heritage Auctions</b> </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#F6F6ED"> No Prior Data Recorded </td> </tr> <tr> <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> <font face="arial" size="1""> PLEASE NOTE: All prices realized reflect the final hammer price PLUS the buyer's premium in auctions that charge a buyer's premium.
