C. 1930 Lakota Sioux Polychrome Painted Wood Bow
The lot features a circa 1930's polychrome painted wood bow from the Lakota Sioux of the Northern Plains Indians. The bow shows a solid hardwood (likely oak) bow with classic carved design showing an in-cut gripping area and slight curve. The top and bottom show carved notches which would have held the stomach lining rawhide drawstring, that has long been missing. The bow itself shows a painted surface with a dark blue gripping area and stripes and pattern in red and green. The paint shows loss. Overall a great early Indian Reservation era bow that displays well. Measures overall 48.25"L.
