Featured in this lot is this circa 1910 - 1930's large Navajo Ganado rug. The rug features a wonderfully and professionally crafted wool and naturally dyed construction. The rug features a intricate pattern that includes hooks and diamonds with a border of striker triangles and a border to the rug and shows red spirit lines to the inside grey border of the rug. This is a truly magnificent rug that shows the excellent symmetry and natural dyes to the coloration of the rug. The colors include black with white triangles and red coloration with a grey field. Located southwest of Crystal in the geographical center of the Navajo Reservation the Ganado style of weaving was established by Lorenzo Hubbell in late 1800. The motif generally consists of one or more stepped diamonds or stepped and embellished triangles. The colors are usually dominated by a red background with gray, ivory, black and red designs surrounded by a geometric border. The condition of this Navajo rug is good and well preserved with very little fading and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this rug is 81" x 50 1/2". The thread count of this rug is 209 threads per square inch.
