Offered in this lot is a pair of hand colored photographs by W.H. Jackson of a "Cowboy Girl". William Henry Jackson (1843 – 1942) was an American photographer, Civil War veteran, painter, and an explorer famous for his images of the American West. In these photographs of a "Cowboy Girl" her hair is pulled loosely under a cowboy hat. She wears a low buttoned work shirt with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. A Colt revolver is in a holster at her hip. In one photograph she wears a red scarf and in the other a red belt. The first photograph shows her smiling to the camera. In the second photograph she has one hand on some cash and another on her gun as she stares down someone across a poker table. The photographs are 10" x 13". The first photo is on a board that measures 18 3/4" x 22", the second is on a board that measures 17" x 14". The first photograph is in good condition, the second photograph has some damage along the edges.
