This is an excellent set of early 1900s thick Indian Buffalo hide, polychrome painted men's moccasins from the Hopi Pueblo Native American Indians. The set shows thick Great American Bison Buffalo Indian tanned hide with thick parfleche hide soles. The set shows a high top ankle with folded edge holding several hide tabs of a traditional nature painted in red and yellow mineral. The body of the set is painted in classic blue mineral and the set shows a tab with a scalloped edge on the foot front. These pueblo moccasins were known to be painted over many times and handed down the family for generations. The set shows rawhide sinew sewing. Truly a fantastic and uncommon set of stunning moccasins. Provenance: From the Robert Dickens aka "Little Blue Hand" collection from Chicago, Illinois and Livingston, Montana.
