with etched blade. Left side etched Chicago Stock Yard with Indian Warrior, right side etched buffalo splitter with galloping bull buffalo, handle carved in the form of a buffalo leg and hoof. From the world renowned Herb Ratner collection. Ratner believed this splitter was a one of a kind made for a knife exhibition and show by the Foster Brothers. Blade is further stamped solid steel, the early 1878-1890 Foster Brothers mark over the number 13, further stamped 124088 next to handle. Blade shows pleasing silver gray drifting brown patina with moderate pin prick pitting, wood handles 4 pin wood filled, 34" overall. Est. 2000-3000
