For your consideration is this 1869 first edition of, "Three Thousand Miles Through The Rockies" by A. K. McClure and published by J. B. Lippincott & Co. in 1869. McClure traveled extensively by stage throughout the northern Rockies in 1867 and 1868. He visited Denver and Salt Lake City and Montana and his travel was frequently disrupted by problems with hostile Indians. McClure tells much about Colorado; the Mormons; the mines and vigilante justice in Montana; military trouble protecting the travel routes; and the typical problems between the military, politicians, and ordinary citizens about dealing with hostile Indians. The book shows a brown cloth hardcover with the title, the author and publishers name on the spine in gold gilt lettering. The books front cover and first three pages are completely detached from the book. The book shows fair condition despite being over 150 years old. The interior pages are in good condition with slight browning to some pages but the text remains very readable. The book measures 7 1/2" L x 5" W x 1 1/4" D.
