Byzantine Empire, Romanus III, Argyrus. Boldly detailed histamenon nomisma, struck at the Constantinople Mint circa 1028-1034 A.D. The obverse features Christ, seated with nimbus, pallium and colobrium. Right hand raised in Benediction, holding Book of Gospels in left. The reverse features the Virgin Mary crowning emperor Romanus III. A lustrous, orange-gold specimen. Graded as Choice XF by NGC, with strike rating of 5 out of 5, and a surface grade of 3 out of 5, due to a small clip at 1 o'clock (obverse facing). Total weight of the coin is 4.11 grams.
