[Inscription of Constantine], facing crowned busts of Constantine VI (on l.) and Irene (on r.), the emperor wearing chlamys and holding gl. cr., his mother wearing loros and holding gl. cr. and cruciform scepter, cross between their heads. Rev. [Inscription of Irene], the three deceased emperors Leo III, Constantine V, and Leo IV all seated facing each wearing crown and chlamys. DOC 2b var.; Sear 1591 var. Good Fine and rare, light gash across the three figures on reverse, a previously unrecorded variant with empress holding globus cruciger.
