The Virgin stg. facing on dais, nimbate and with her hands uplifted (orans), double border. Rev. Constantine, crowned and wearing scale armor and military cloak, stg. facing, holding long cross and resting on hilt of sheathed sword, double border. DOC 7a; Sear 1834. Nearly Extremely Fine, an exceptionally nice example of this very rare type.

On this unusual type the inscription runs continuously from the obverse to the reverse - "O Lady, preserve the pious Monomachus" (the emperor's family name).
