Byrd's 1st Antarctic Expedition- Four Reels Film
Byrd's First Antarctic Expedition- Four Reels of 16mm Film on 7", 400 ft original Kodascope Reels from the early 1930s time period. These reels, from the Thomas B. Mulroy collection, contain B&W footage from the legendary South Pole expedition on which he was chief engineer. He apparently used this film footage when he gave speeches or appeared on TV shows about his experiences. Each reel is in its original can and each has a sheet of paper with notes as to content. For example, the first reel (#1A) contains scenes as follows: Supplies; Dogs and pups (3); Penguins (3); Entrance to fuel tunnel and fuel tunnel drawing; Kerosene for heating stoves; Fuel Pump; Crevesse [sic] at Little America; Seals at the Bay of Whales; and Pressure Ice in the Bay of Whales. The other three reels contain various other scenes including some of Admiral Byrd. These have not been viewed but the film appears to be in excellent condition, ready for your 16mm projector.
