Buzz Aldrin's Pilot Flight School Record and Log
Buzz Aldrin's Pilot Flight Record and Log Book 1951-1952. Measuring 7.25" x 4.25", Aldrin's flight record and log book from his Air Force pilot training days is a unique item indeed. Aldrin enrolled in flight training school in Bartow, Florida immediately after graduating third in his class at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He continued his training later in 1951 and into 1952 at Bryan Air Force Base in Bryan, Texas and Nellis Air Force Base in Clark County, Nevada (where he would return after Korea to serve as an aerial gunnery instructor). The log book contains entries from Aldrin's time in all three locations: Florida, Texas, and Nevada. Leafing through the pages filled with technical training details such as type of aircraft flown, monthly totals of hours in said aircraft, several pages of daily breakdowns of flight time, and more, the reader encounters no less than 29 full "Edwin E. Aldrin Jr" signatures, most at the bottom of Aldrin's daily breakdown of flight time. In fact, the writing inside the book is almost entirely in Aldrin's hand, save for the instructors' signatures peppered throughout. For those curious as to the type of aircraft he flew during his training, Aldrin does not disappoint. According to this flight record book, Aldrin logged time in the T6-G, T-28, T-33A, F-80A & B, F-86E, and B-26C. Aldrin's vast training experience with multiple aircraft, and specifically with the F-86E, certainly helped him as a jet fighter pilot in the Korean War, where he flew 66 missions and shot down two enemy MiG-15s in the F-86E Sabre. But it all started with his training in the Air Force, training which is meticulously detailed in this very book. Don't miss the opportunity to acquire this completely unique piece of aviation history. From the personal collection of Dr. Buzz Aldrin and accompanied by a signed Letter of Authenticity from him.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
