Buzz Aldrin: Handwritten Paper on SF Writers
Buzz Aldrin: Handwritten Student Paper on Science Fiction Authors from His First Semester at West Point "Edwin E. Aldrin Jr.". Two pages, 8.5" x 11", college-ruled notebook paper, United States Military Academy at West Point, November 6, 1947, class paper on science fiction writers, black ink. Untitled. This interesting theme paper represents young Buzz Aldrin's scholastic abilities in his early days at the United States Military Academy at West Point. The theme of the paper concerns science fiction writers as prophets of the future. Aldrin compares certain real life events against specific instances when those events were foretold in comic books and stories. He pleads that the authors of Superman & Buck Rogers, and visionary writers like Jules Verne "not be regarded as writers of trash but as prophets of the new world into which we are ever progressing." This paper is especially interesting, considering Buzz Aldrin authored a science fiction novel himself in his later life. Includes a full "Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr." signature at the conclusion. The paper is headed "Aldrin, E E /Section B" There are two diagonal creases at the left of the page, else very fine condition. Instructor's remarks in red throughout. This paper offers keen insight into a young college student's experience, a student who grew to be a true legend in American life, and a published science fiction author in his own right.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
