Burne Hogarth - Dynamic Figure Drawing Original Art (undated). Legendary comic strip illustrator and art instructor Burne Hogarth has rendered a truly dynamic figure in colored chalk, with arrows indicating each limb's range of motion. In his book Dynamic Figure Drawing, Burne Hogarth introduced his own system of figure drawing, which made it possible to visualize and accurately render the forms of the human body from every conceivable point of view. First Hogarth described the forms of the human figure, then he demonstrated his "deep space" notion, a systematic sketching order that was the key to drawing the figure with believable interconnection of forms and control of foreshortening. The drawing offered here has a large image area of 21.5" x 31", and is in Excellent condition. From the collection of Richard and Wendy Pini. Richard says: "Legendary illustrator Burne Hogarth was the closest thing the 20th century had to Leonardo da Vinci, at least when it came to the ability to interpret the human figure on paper. I recall that in his lectures he would create these wonderful, vibrant drawings on huge pads of paper to illustrate his points. I won this at an auction at a comics convention; I suspect at the time no one else knew what was being offered -- to my advantage!"
