Burne Hogarth - Dynamic Anatomy illustration
Burne Hogarth, perhaps best remembered for his vision of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan, was also a renowned art teacher. In addition to co-founding the Cartoonists and Illustrators School in 1947 (later renamed the School of Visual Arts, or SVA, in 1956), Hogarth also wrote and illustrated a series of highly influential drawing books such as Dynamic Figure Drawing, Dynamic Anatomy, Drawing Dynamic Hands, and others. This sepia ink on vellum illustration titled, "The Principle of Projecting the Side View Figure to Achieve the Foreshortened Figure," demonstrates the effects of foreshortening on figure drawing and was inscribed to cartoonist Guy Gilchrist. The faded inscription at the lower right reads, "To Guy Gilchrist -- all good thoughts, Burne Hogarth." This piece was matted to an overall size of 20" x 15.5". Aside from some staining in the upper and lower right corners and the faded inscription, the art is in Very Good condition.

Shipping: Large Flat (view shipping information)
